The Professional Pillar

I wasn’t born in Los Angeles, but this city is my chosen home. I moved here over a decade ago, found myself, and fell hard for everything that makes LA what it is. My commitment to this city is professional, personal and financial.

For four years I was the only full-time staff person at a 47-unit limited-equity housing cooperative in Koreatown. I handled leasing, income certification, rent and dues collection, vendors and Fair Housing. I rebuilt the co-op’s bookkeeping, invoicing and records, and I brought the property into compliance with its LAHD reporting, which completed forgiveness of a roughly $100,000 loan that prior management had never closed out.

I’m Board Treasurer of the Beverly-Vermont Community Land Trust and a former president of the Wilshire Center Koreatown Neighborhood Council. I’ve led workshops at Housing California and SCANPH, and I’ve met with state legislators on housing bills with the California land trust coalition.

As JamieDelphine, I cover housing, labor and the people in charge in LA. I read the municipal code, the budgets and the housing bills, then I explain them in plain language, with the timing I picked up doing improv at iO West. When power shows up in person, I bring a camera, and that footage lives in On the Ground Coverage. My protest footage has been picked up by The New York Times.

Every Monday the stream opens with News for People With a Job, the week’s stories for people who don’t have time to follow City Hall. Then we react to whatever political YouTube is yelling about this week. Tuesdays are for games and vibes. For the deeper dives, there’s Off the Clock, my long-form takes.
